Pirated Kuruvi DVDs seized - further news

Chennai: Two of the four persons whom the police arrested (initial report) for allegedly selling the pirated CDs of the movie - "Kuruvi" starring Vijay, committed suicide while being in police custody.

Police have retrieved a suicide note in which the deceased points out that it was a very big shame to them as they were caught selling the pirated CDs of the movie - "Kuruvi" and that they would not have taken the extreme step if they had been arrested for selling CDs of any other actor including Vijaya.T.R.

The four accused were initially booked under the section 456789 of Indian Penal Code (causing mental disorders and imbalance to people by making them see/hear/feel highly volatile contents or malicious contents).

The police swung into action following reports from mental asylums, which had been facing a sudden high-inflow rate for the past few days. The new-comers had been seen shaking their heads with their hands spread-apart (typical Vijay-style).

A cop under the condition of anonymity, says that the arrested persons had solicited to the police to showcase the episode to the media as if it had been a pirated CD of Kamal/Rajinikanth film and not Vijay's film as it would be of great insult to them.

Call Auto

Sounds interesting!!!!!
I just called them up to enquire about the whole-stuff...

The service which is available between 7am and 7pm, is charged at Rs.6/- per km + Rs.40/- as call-centre charges.

I feel this will be useful if we have to take up auto for long distances...
Say for 10kms, you will have to spend Rs.100/- only (10*6 + 40), which is damn cheap.
If we take a normal auto, we can never get a bargain like this...

I can come to my office (Nanganallur to Mylapore - 13kms) @ Rs.118/-. I can't even dream of this rate if I use the normal auto even after displaying my bargaining talents to the best!!!

One minus point is that we have to call them up 1-hour prior to our starting time, which I felt is a bit high. Half-an-hour would sound ok to me...

Ok... Lets see how well it reaches!!!!!

Abusive language usage by ICICI tele-caller!!! :-(

I received a call (from 044-4358 7551 on 16/7/2008 at 12:48pm) asking if I would like to have ICICI-Platinum credit-card to which I replied saying that I would not be interested in that. To this, the caller started shouting at me using abusive and foul language.

The point to be noted here is that the call was not actually directed to me and it was directed to one Mr.Roberts, who might have used my number before I started using it. Though I answered the caller saying that its a wrong number, he didnot take heed of that and started using nasty abusive language.

Though I lodged a complaint through ICICI customer care service, I felt like lodging the complaint by personally meeting the concerned person. I immediately contacted the Chennai-Santhome branch and the Chennai-MountRoad branch (going to both the branches in-person) to lodge a personal complaint only to get some vague responses and its-not-me kind of reply from many of the employees.
And now, I just met the Branch Manager of Chennai-Santhome branch (Mr.Stanley) and have given him a compalint in writing.

Just hoping that some positive step be taken against that fellow.

When itz time to pack up!!!!

I am writing this post just to tell you about a shop - "Wahab Stores" in Mylapore.
I thght this info abt the shop will be useful to many ppl who wants to pass on things thru' some person to their relatives/frnds staying abroad.
I had some things to be packed and sent to the US (to my sis) thru' one of her frnds and I got to know abt this shop. And, I visited this shop today morning with all things to be packed. There were some four bottles (plastic ones) and some other pouches containing all sorts of pickles, powders and pastes...
I was really delighted by the way the things were packed. They were neatly packed and sealed in airtight pouches. All the items were double-packed. The packing was such that there was no space for the bottles to move too... It was a job very well done and now I can pass on these things without any worry.
The cost was also very cheap considering the protection the things were given - cost for packing the bottles was Rs.30/- and the other stuff was Rs.20/-. The shop also provides courier service to foreign countries.
This shop is located at Luz Bazaar - exactly opposite to the Mylapore MRTS Railway Station. Its a very small shop - but u cudnt miss it coz itz very much infront of the station and there are boards displayed saying "Packaging done here" etc. Phone number: 044-24952750.
